MILWAUKEE -- After months of uncertainty, a Milwaukee family has some closure. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed a body found at Meaux Park on Sunday, May 15th is Curtis Peterson -- a man who disappeared in March.
"Lord knows I`m going to miss him," Connie Peterson, Curtis' sister said.
On Tuesday, May 17th, Connie Peterson received some devastating news. The medical examiner confirmed her brother's body was found in Meaux Park on Sunday.
"He wasn`t supposed to be taken away from me like this," Connie Peterson said.
Curtis Peterson disappeared in early March. Family members say he suffered from dementia. He was last seen leaving a corner store near 25th and Capitol.
For two months, his family has waited and worried. They reported him missing to police, handed out fliers and tried to remain hopeful.
"It`s just too much to take in right now," Caprice Blackmon, Curtis Peterson's niece said.
A group of boys found Peterson's body near the water at Meaux Park.
Family members said they're thankful the boys helped provide them some peace.
"It just gave closure to our family. Even though it wasn`t how we wanted it, we got it," Blackmon said.
"I love my brother. I miss him," Connie Peterson said.
FOX6 News is told Peterson's death does not appear to be suspicious.
