Suspected reckless driver taken to the hospital via Flight for Life after rear-ending semi

WAUKESHA -- Waukesha police say a suspected reckless driver was hurt when he crashed his vehicle into a semi in Waukesha on Tuesday, May 17th.

Police say shortly before noon, 911 calls came in regarding a reckless driver headed into Waukesha on Pewaukee Road.

Shortly thereafter, police learned there had been a crash near North and Madison.

Police say the vehicle observed by the original callers was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a semi. The suspected reckless driver was pinned in his vehicle, which was pinned underneath the safety bars on the semi.

A tow truck had to remove the driver's pickup truck from the safety bars before officials with the Waukesha Fire Department could extricate the driver.

That driver was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life.

North Street was closed for approximately two hours.
