Video: Semi drivers come to aid of man who suffered medical emergency on I-94 in Kenosha

KENOSHA -- FOX6 News has obtained dramatic new video along with the 911 calls associated with a crash that happened in Kenosha on April 23rd.

Officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department tell FOX6 News a 52-year-old Illinois man was pronounced dead at the hospital after he apparently suffered some sort of medical emergency while driving on Saturday morning, April 23rd.

Around 5:45 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-94 — for a report of a driver who was continually striking the wall. The pickup truck’s driver was reportedly slumped over the wheel and the vehicle continued striking the wall.

Two semis were following behind the pickup truck in an effort to keep other traffic out of the way.

When the speed of the pickup began to slow, one of the semi drivers exited and attempted to open the driver’s door of the pickup. The semi driver pulled the door handle off the driver’s door, but was able to get the door open and stopped the pickup by pressing the brake.

Once the vehicle was in park, the semi drivers removed the truck’s driver, who was identified as 52-year-old Brian Carney of Northfield, Illinois.

Carney was found to be not conscious or breathing.

The semi drivers began CPR until rescue responded and transported Carney to the hospital — where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s officials say it appears Carney may have suffered a medical emergency while driving.
