"Clean it up:" More than 320 lbs of trash collected around Bradford Beach area

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee's favorite Bradford Beach is getting spruced up for the summer. Volunteers helped clean up around the beach area and the rest of the beachfront on Saturday, May 21st.

The cleanup event was hosted by Boston Store in partnership by Eco Swim by Aqua Green.

The event ran from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

In those two hours, volunteers collected more than 320 pounds of trash -- including cans and plastic bottles.

"It's so ridiculous how the plastic bottles, they don't break down and then they're stuck in our environment and dirty and pollute our waterways and lakes and oceans and rivers so we're just trying to clean it up," said Julie Morbit with Eco Swim by Aqua Green .

FOX6 News is told the two companies have been planning the big cleanup for a while now, and it seems the planning paid off.
