Department of Revenue sets online auction for unclaimed property

MADISON -- After working to match unclaimed property with its rightful owner, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue has scheduled an unclaimed property online auction.

According to a release from the DOR, the department tries to match unclaimed property with its owner through tax record matching and newspaper advertisements, but if the content of safety deposit boxes have not been claimed, state law requires the DOR to sell the unclaimed property at public auction within three years.

The online auction will take place from May 24th through June 7th.
