"Ferris Fest:" Chicago celebrates America's favorite slacker in honor of iconic film's 30th anniversary

CHICAGO -- Chicago this past weekend celebrated 30 years of America's favorite slacker and his iconic day off.

Stars and fans alike were on hand for "Ferris Fest," a celebration of the 30th anniversary of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

If Ferris Bueller taught us anything, it was how to do a day off right.

"I just like it because he's so mischievous and he could do what I never did in school because I'm such a nerd," Lisa Hale said.

A series of Ferris-themed events was topped off with a recreation of the film's iconic parade scene.

Stars from the film were in attendance to share fans' love of the famous school-skipper. A fun fact: The actors that played Ferris' parents in the film got married in real life after meeting on set.

The iconic film was released on June 11th, 1986.
