Coalition for Justice supports family of Christopher Davis, shot by Walworth Co. Sheriff's deputy



MILWAUKEE -- The Coalition for Justice has come out in support of the family of a man shot and killed by a Walworth County Sheriff's deputy in February.

21-year-old Christopher Davis died at the hospital after an officer-involved shooting in East Troy on February 24th, which preceded a pursuit that ended in a crash and a search for suspects in Muskego.

The officer-involved shooting took place in the parking lot of the Roma's Restaurant on County Road ES in the Town of East Troy around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Walworth County Sheriff's deputy involved was assisting the Village of East Troy Police Department with a drug investigation at the time.

During that investigation, the deputy discharged his firearm.

Davis, who was in a vehicle, was struck by the gunfire.Walworth County Sheriff's officials said all of this happened when the driver of the vehicle refused to follow commands from officials.The suspect vehicle then fled the scene -- heading northbound on I-43 towards Milwaukee.The pursuit reached speeds of more than 100 miles-per-hour, according to Muskego police.The pursuit ended in a crash in Muskego, after a PIT maneuver was performed, Muskego police said -- near Durham Place and Hidden Creek Court.Davis was taken from the vehicle -- and pronounced dead at a hospital Two other suspects were located after fleeing the vehicle in Muskego.

The Coalition for Justice on Thursday, May 26th met at All People's Church before heading to Graceland Cemetery, where Davis' family spoke about his death.

"There is nothing that would've went wrong where Chris' name would've came up. He just enjoyed helping people. He was loving. He wanted love. If you knew him, you knew he wanted love, you knew he wanted friendship, you knew he wanted support," Paulara Davis, Christopher Davis' sister said.

Davis' family says they still don't know why he was shot.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is still investigating the officer-involved shooting. The Walworth County District Attorney will ultimately decide whether to issue charges.
