Most of the time, high cholesterol in young adults occurs for the same reasons it does in older people.

• Obesity
• Lack of physical exercise
• A diet that includes too much saturated fat, sugar and junk foods>

What are the risks of having high cholesterol?
• Atherosclerosis
• Coronary heart disease
• Heart attack
• Angina
• Stroke and mini-stroke

Healthy Cholesterol Target:
• Total cholesterol <200
• Triglycerides <150
• LDL <130
• HDL >50
