Construction is picking up: More on changes coming to I-94, Zoo Interchange

MILWAUKEE -- Construction is really picking up -- with changes coming to I-94 and the Zoo Interchange. Ryan Luck with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation joins FOX6 WakeUp to talk about everything that's going to impact your commute.

Work will be suspended on the freeway from 12 p.m. Friday, May 27 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 31st for the Memorial Day holiday. Long term closures will remain in effect.

Zoo Interchange Project:

Overnight last night crews re-opened the I-94 East exits to 84th Street and 70th Street and moved I-94 East traffic to the newly constructed eastbound lanes. Please note that traffic exiting I-94 East at 84th Street will be able to turn south only.

Tuesday, May 31

Crews will need to close one lane on I-94 East between 84th Street and 68th Street for about 3 weeks to quickly reconstruct the area in the median where the eastbound traffic had been traveling.

The following overnight closures will occur to accomplish this switch:

    Wednesday, June 1

      Thursday, June 2

        Hoan Bridge Project:

Water Street, between Clybourn Street and St. Paul Avenue, will be closed nightly, from 10pm to 6am beginning Wednesday, June 1 through Friday, June 3. Use Broadway or Milwaukee to get around the closure.

The Broadway entrance ramp to I-794 East (Southbound) will be closed Friday, May 27th from 10pm to 5am and then again nightly from Tuesday, May 31 through Friday, June 3. To access I-794 East (Southbound), motorists should utilize the Lakefront Memorial Drive entrance ramp during this closure.
