MILWAUKEE — It’s a sight to be seen on Milwaukee’s lakefront this weekend, as kites of all kinds are filling the sky for the 29th annual Maggiano’s Family Kite Festival in Veterans Park.

The annual festival is free to the public and kite performances occur throughout the day on Saturday, May 28th and Sunday, May 29th.

Folks can enjoy the Grand Launch of 500 kites, where kite-fliers at the event send their kites up into the air at once.

“I think it’s great to spend an afternoon on the lake in great weather, good food, and plenty of open space for the kids to run around. It’s a great event,” said Vinny Dandekar, drove from Chicago for the festival.

The kite festival takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Enjoy a bite to eat, enjoy some kites and even go home with your very own.

The festival is free with plenty of parking.
