"A great event:" Colorful kites fill the sky at Veterans Park for 29th annual kite festival

MILWAUKEE -- It's a sight to be seen on Milwaukee's lakefront this weekend, as kites of all kinds are filling the sky for the 29th annual Maggiano's Family Kite Festival in Veterans Park.

The annual festival is free to the public and kite performances occur throughout the day on Saturday, May 28th and Sunday, May 29th.

Folks can enjoy the Grand Launch of 500 kites, where kite-fliers at the event send their kites up into the air at once.

"I think it's great to spend an afternoon on the lake in great weather, good food, and plenty of open space for the kids to run around. It's a great event," said Vinny Dandekar, drove from Chicago for the festival.
