WALWORTH COUNTY -- Walworth County officials say four people were killed and four people were injured following a three-vehicle accident involving a semi that happened near Highway K and Town Hall Road in Sharon Township.
The accident happened around 11:45 a.m.
According to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, a preliminary investigation has revealed a fully-loaded semi truck and trailer were traveling northbound on Highway K, approaching the intersection with Town Hall Road.
The semi had the right-of-way as authorities say there is no stop sign for traffic traveling on Highway K.
Officials say a 2011 red Chevy pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Town Hall Road and failed to yield at a posted stop sign. The semi then T-boned the passenger side of the pickup truck.
A third vehicle, a 2004 GMC Envoy, was traveling southbound on Highway K and was also involved in the crash.
According to officials, the semi was occupied by two people. They were transported to an area trauma center with multiple injuries.
The 2011 pickup was occupied by four people. Three were pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office. The fourth passenger in the pickup truck was flown by Flight for Life to a hospital in very critical condition.
The 2006 Envoy was occupied by two people. One was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office. The other passenger was transported to a trauma center with critical injuries.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending positive identification as well as notification to families.
The Walworth County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Unit is investigating this incident.
