43-year-old woman struck, killed by semi while trying to get dog out of road



RACINE COUNTY -- A 43-year-old woman was struck and killed by a semi in the Town of Yorkville early Tuesday morning, May 31st. It happened around 3 a.m. on Durand Avenue near Rosendale  Drive.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, the 43-year-old woman, who has been identified as Amy Krenzke of Sturtevant, ran into the roadway to retrieve her dog when she was struck by the semi.

The woman was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Racine, where she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say the operator of the semi is cooperating with the ongoing investigation

The dog was located later in the day and found to be unharmed and returned to the family.

A GoFundMe.com account has been set up in Krenzke's honor to raise money for her young son.
