Family needs your help after losing two loved ones in crash involving stolen vehicle at 39th & Hadley

Danielle Triggs

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee family has lost two members following a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Friday, May 27th near 39th and Hadley. Police continue to search for at least two male suspects who fled the stolen, striking vehicle after the crash.

"Friday morning. We're going to hang out. We're going to shop a little bit, eat a little bit, and we got the kids with us," said Laurice Triggs, as she recalled her conversation with her sister, Danielle Triggs before she died.

46-year-old Danielle Triggs was killed when a speeding SUV blew through a stop sign and struck the vehicle she was riding in, along with six other people -- four children and two adults.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police say the striking vehicle -- an Audi Q7 -- was stolen from Racine in April.

An eight-year-old boy, Taeshawn Griffin, Danielle Triggs' grandson, died at the hospital on Sunday, May 29th as a result of this crash.

The medical examiner's report indicates the group was headed to a movie when the crash happened.

The report indicates Danielle Triggs was ejected from the rear of the vehicle -- where she had been seated, along with the four children.

The driver of the stolen vehicle and at least one other person ran from the scene after the crash.

Laurice Triggs says Griffin was thrown more than 70 feet as a result of the crash.

"They said he was walking and talking -- however, when he got to the ambulance, still walking and talking, he went into cardiac arrest," said Laurice Triggs.

Two days later, Griffin died from injuries he sustained during the crash.

Laurice Triggs says the boy's battle with cerebral palsy kept his mother from letting him out of her sight, until he came to Milwaukee.

"This time, she decided to be apart, and give my sister, Peaches Danielle, the opportunity to keep him for the summer," said Laurice Triggs.

As Milwaukee police search for at least two male suspects accused of driving the stolen SUV, Triggs asks that anyone with information contact police.

"It's about making sure that this does not happen to someone else," said Laurice Triggs.
