Middle school students flex their engineering muscles, build an airplane

WAUKESHA -- Students in Waukesha are flexing their engineering muscles by building their own airplane.

7th and 8th graders from Les Paul Middle School were showing off their plane on Wednesday, June 1st.

The students worked with volunteers from GE and 88 Charlies, a group that works with young people to restore aircraft -- to build the plane.

Each week for the last two years, students have worked on putting the pieces together.

After two years of work, they're on schedule to finish the plane next school year. After that, the art club will paint the plane -- and they are hoping to fly the plane next spring.
