MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department has welcomed some new officers to the force.

A special graduation ceremony was held Thursday, June 2nd at the Milwaukee Police Academy -- where 37 police recruits graduated.

The men and women had to complete more than six months of training before they became officers.

One of the graduates spoke to the class.

"You guys did it. And you were outstanding -- and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for all the effort that you put into this," said Captain Nicole Davila.

This was the second of two classes that started training at the Police Academy in 2015.

Why anyone would want to do that thankless job in which you are set up for failure is a mystery to me.
