MILWAUKEE -- FOX6 News got a sneak peek at a new exhibit set to debut at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

The exhibit is called "American Epics: Thomas Hart Benton and Hollywood."

It opens on Friday, June 10th and will be open through September.

Benton, a painter, first got involved in the film industry back in the early 1900s -- doing things like painting stage designs.

From there, he took some of his work to Hollywood.

The new exhibit features about 70 paintings.

"The exhibition spans the entirety of Thomas Hart Benton's career -- from his earliest work. You'll see in the exhibition from 1920 to the latest in the mid 1960s. He really had this relationship with film-making and with Hollywood over the course of several decades," Brandon Ruud, Milwaukee Art Museum curator said.
