Driver flees after crashing stolen vehicle in Brown Deer

BROWN DEER -- Brown Deer police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a crash early Thursday morning, June 9th. The vehicle involved in the crash was reported stolen out of Illinois.

According to Brown Deer police, officers observed suspicious activity in a parking lot near 46th and Brown Deer shortly before 2 a.m. The subject fled the scene in a tan Audi.

Police say the suspect was most likely attempting to steal parts from another vehicle in the parking lot.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle after it fled the scene -- and no pursuit ensued.



A short time later, there was a single vehicle crash near Dean Road and Ivy Street. Officers determined it was the vehicle that was seen in the parking lot near 46th and Brown Deer earlier.

The vehicle was unoccupied when located by officers.

Police say the vehicle was reported stolen with the Matteson Police Department in Illinois.

The incident remains under investigation.
