Burglary suspect attempts to flee police by jumping into Fox River

APPLETON -- A burglary suspect was rescued from the Fox River, after Appleton officials say he jumped in to avoid police Saturday, June 11th.

According to WLUK, police were called to a burglary in process  after witnesses noticed smashed out windows at a home located on W. Reid Drive.

Police say the suspect ran from the back door of the home and jumped into the Fox River.



The suspect, identified as a 26-year-old homeless man, was pulled from the river near Lutz Park, and transported to a hospital for treatment of any injuries and taken into custody.



The man is now being held in the Outagamie County jail on a warrant charge.
