Wisconsin Crime Alert Network: Search for suspects in new twist on IRS scam

JANESVILLE -- It's a scam that reached across the country -- and involves the Wisconsin cities of Janesville, Beloit and Delavan.

The Wisconsin Crime Alert Network issued a notice on Wednesday, June 22nd about an IRS scam. Earlier this month, a student from the University of Southern California was apparently contacted by phone by a suspect claiming to be from the Los Angeles Police Department. The suspect told the victim she had outstanding debts to the IRS and had to pay them or risk being arrested.

The notice indicates the victim sent three wires via Moneygram to locations in Janesville, Beloit and Delavan.
