Popular Zippin Pippin roller coaster will be closed for two weeks after accident

GREEN BAY— A popular roller coaster at a Green Bay amusement park will be closed until next month because of an accident earlier this week that injured three people.

WLUK-TV says the city is shipping the cars from the Zippin Pippin roller coaster back to the manufacturer in Philadelphia for inspection and recertification, so it will remain shut down at least another two weeks.

Two roller coaster employees and a rider sustained minor injuries Monday when one train returning to the start of the ride didn't stop and slammed into another train at Bay Beach Amusement Park.

Bay Beach is a historic city-owned park with a rich history along the Green Bay waterfront.
