Popular Strawberry Festival in Cedarburg celebrates 31st year; draws up to 100K annually

CEDARBURG -- The 31st annual Strawberry Festival in Cedarburg took place Saturday, June 25th and Sunday, June 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the event's website, the popular family-oriented festival draws up to 100,000 people annually to taste strawberry-themed food and drinks.

The event features food vendors in an extensive food court near the community center -- offering everything from summer favorites like hamburgers, chicken, BBQ and roasted corn, to sweet treats and specialty foods.

Exclusive favorites include the “Original” Strawberry Brat, Strawberry Chicken Wrap, and Strawberry Shortcake.

Those visiting can enjoy locally made strawberry-themed delicacies like strawberry pie, strawberry crepes, strawberry slushies and chocolate-covered strawberries.

Schmit’s Berry Farm, a local grower, provides the festival with the most ripe and juicy strawberries, available for purchase by the quart.

And for attendees with a taste for wine, Cedar Creek Winery’s Strawberry Blush Wine is a must. This and the winery’s other award-winning wines can be purchased by the glass throughout the festival.

The Strawberry Festival also features "Arts on the Avenue" -- showcasing more than 250 of the best local and Midwest artists who bring their combined perspectives, skills, and thousands of works of arts to the streets of Cedarburg, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fiber art, fine glass, woodwork, mixed media, and photography.

FOX6's Jonathon Gregg spent the morning Sunday at the Strawberry Festival during FOX6 WakeUp News.
