Lockdown at Green Bay Correctional after assault by inmate: 3 employees hurt

GREEN BAY -- An assault by an inmate sent three employees of the Green Bay Correctional Institution to the hospital Wednesday morning, June 29th -- according to the state Department of Corrections.

The prison was on a temporary lockdown in the wake of the assault.

Brown County Sheriff's officials say the incident happened just before 10:00 a.m.

Two of the victims were stabbed and beaten. A third employee was injured trying to restrain the inmate.

The inmate also sustained minor cuts on his hand. He refused medical attention.

The three employees have all been released from the hospital.

The DOC has referred the incident to the Brown County Sheriff's Office for investigation. Sheriff's officials say they will recommend charges to the Brown County District Attorney's Office later this week.

Investigators say they will not release the names of anyone involved.
