Semi fire, diesel fuel leak snarled traffic on I-43 in Ozaukee Co. early Friday morning

OZAUKEE COUNTY —  The right lane of I-43 northbound near STH 33 in Ozaukee County was closed for over five hours Friday morning, July 1st due to a semi fire and diesel fuel leak.

Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Deputies were called out to the semi-truck fire around 4:15 a.m.

It was determined the semi-truck had mechanical issues. During the incident a fuel leak was discovered and approximately 90 gallons of diesel fuel was leaked from the truck.

The Future Logistics semi-tractor/trailer was carrying bottled water.

The right lane of I-43 northbound was closed for approximately 5 ½ hours for clean-up and removal of the truck.

Saukville Fire Department extinguished the fire.  Ozaukee Emergency Management responded to handle the clean-up of the diesel fuel. No injuries were reported.
