Walworth County: 27-year-old man killed after striking tree on Highway H in LaGrange Township

WALWORTH COUNTY -- A 27-year-old man has died after officials say he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree off Highway H near Bluff Road in LaGrange Township, in Walworth County.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday, July 2nd.

According to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, a 2008 grey Nissan was traveling southbound on Highway H when it lost control and struck a large tree.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped inside and deputies attempted life-saving measures.

Officials say the driver was extricated from the vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office.

Authorities have identified the 27-year-old old victim has Robert Olson of Whitewater.

Witnesses tell deputies that Olson had just left work in Eagle, Wisconsin and was headed home.

Speed is believed to be a factor in this crash.

The investigation of this crash remains open and ongoing.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the town of LaGrange Fire Department, City of Whitewater Police Department, and the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office.
