Police in Mishicot corral python that attacked poodle back on June 27th

MISHICOT — Police in Mishicot say they've captured a python that attacked a poodle.

Deputies were called to an apartment in Mishicot on June 27 by tenants who said the ball python bit the dog's ear and coiled around it. A tenant threw the snake out the window and deputies couldn't find it.

Police said in a news release Friday, July 8th that officers were dispatched Thursday for a snake on patio near where the python vanished. Officers found the snake hiding behind a plastic container. Wildlife of Wisconsin, a nonprofit wildlife organization, captured it.

Police Chief Paul Granger said the snake's owners were cited for obstruction due to misleading officers during the initial investigation. He said they told deputies the snake didn't belong to them but Mishicot officers later learned it did.
