MILWAUKEE -- It was a violent night in Milwaukee as three people were shot, two of them killed, all within three hours from Saturday, July 9th into Sunday, July 10th.
First, officers are investigating a double shooting that resulted in one person dead and another person wounded. It happened just before 11:00 p.m. in the neighborhood near 7th and Center on the city's north side.
The initial MPD investigation reveals that families from two separate houses became involved in a dispute. That dispute quickly escalated into a physical fight. During the fight, a suspect pulled a gun and fired several gunshots.
A 46-year-old man was struck by the gunfire and died from his injuries. A 13-year-old girl was also struck by gunfire. She was taken to a hospital where she was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
About three hours later, officers were dispatched to the area near 37th and Hampton. Officials say circumstances surrounding the shooting at this scene are unclear. However, evidence suggests that a 36-year-old victim was shot at least once.
The Milwaukee Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but were unable to revive the victim. He died on the scene.
