There is another Pokemon Go related event in Milwaukee this weekend -- set for Saturday, July 23rd.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced that the Parks Department will offer a "PokeNic," a free Pokemon-themed event taking place in Mitchell Park on Saturday, July 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

According to a press release from Milwaukee County Parks, the free event, hosted at 524 S. Layton Boulevard, will let families play the "augmented reality" game Pokemon Go, and participate in a variety of picnic-type activities with a Pokemon twist.

Just outside the Mitchell Park Domes, there are eight "PokeStops" for players to stock up on free, virtual supplies such as Pokeballs.

To be sure there will be plenty of Pokemon in front of the Domes, and the nearby sunken garden area, lure modules will be launched every half hour. The lures will attract a plethora of Pokemon for players to catch. Then, a beacon will appear on players' phones to alert them to a new location where creatures have gathered.

“Several of our parks are PokéStops,” Abele said. “We love that this game is getting people outside and active in the parks. Play safe and stay tuned for more Pokémon-themed events in your parks!”

In addition to playing the hottest new app, families can enjoy photo-ops and Pokemon-themed games. Folks are invited to participate in the Poliwag Water Balloon Toss, PokeEgg Race, and a scavenger hunt.

Coloring sheets featuring Mystic, Valor, and Instinct teams will also be available at the PokeNic.

You may bring your own snacks, beverages, and picnic lunches.

And in Waukesha County, the Waukesha County Department of Parks and Land Use invites Pokémon GO players to safely take advantage of the "Gyms" and "PokéStops" located in the County Parks System’s ice arenas and beaches to stay cool during this week’s anticipated heat wave.

“The Waukesha County Park System offers a wide range of amenities so residents can stay active year-round,” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow said in a statement issued to FOX6 News. “We have two ice arenas and six beautiful beaches for families and individuals to safely enjoy during high heat this week.”

Parks officials say on Thursday, July 21st, the Park System will place Pokémon lures at the PokéStops outside both Waukesha County Ice Arenas during their open skate hours. Players who show the Pokemon GO app to Ice Arena staff at this time will receive a free ice skate rental.

Naga-Waukee Park Ice arena will extend its open skate hours on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 2699 Golf Road in Delafield. Open skate at Eble Park Ice Arena at 19400 W. Bluemound Road in Brookfield is from noon to 2:00 p.m.

Members of the public may use the ice arenas as cooling stations for free. The cost to skate is $6.50 for adults and $5.00 for seniors and children.
