MEQUON -- It's a hot and steamy day, but that's not stopping some from still fitting in their favorite activities.

To see a case study in dedication, folks came to watch the 2016 Summer Baseball State Tournament on one of the hottest days of the year.

"Pretty excited," said William Reese, baseball fan.

With temperatures topping about 90°, it's the kind of day that can leave you glistening with sweat after just a few minutes outside.

"I had second thoughts about bringing them but they've come to all the games with me so I figured they should come too for this one, but I thought it might be a little nicer down by the lake, get a good lake breeze, I thought it would be OK," said Katie Turtenwald, baseball fan.

The high head didn't slow down baseball. A packed house still turned out to catch the tournament at Concordia University in Mequon.

That lake breeze and plenty of liquids helped fans navigate the high heat, but playing in it takes another level of preparation.

"I do have my ice towels if they do get overheated or they're feeling hot, they can do the ice towels. I also brought out the water boy with really cold water," said Licensed Athletic Trainer, Laura Ramm, Aurora Healthcare.

FOX6 News caught up with Ramm as she watched over football players at a mini camp Thursday evening -- making sure they didn't get sick from the heat.

"So your body is working even harder, then especially with the humidity to try to cool down so your heart is working harder," said Ramm.

The effect can be both unpleasant and dangerous.

"You potentially can start to feel that you know lethargic around yourself, that exhaustion, the muscles get more tired, you're just tired and exhausted all the time," said Ramm.

If you plan for hot weather safety and properly prepare, you can still have a good time.

"Lots of water. Got here late and enjoyed the air conditioning in the car on the way here," said a baseball fan.

Most of the folks at the game on Friday say they just tried to prepare for the game by drinking lots of water and staying cool during the earlier part of the day.
