Man in custody after standoff near 71st & Becher in West Allis that drew large police response

WEST ALLIS -- A man has been taken into custody after a standoff near 71st and Becher in West Allis on Tuesday evening, July 26th.

Police tell FOX6 News the man was taken into custody after negotiations with a West Allis Police Department detective. He was taken into custody without incident, and no one was hurt.

There were at least seven agencies on scene, including:

  • West Allis Police Department
  • State Fair Police Department
  • Greenfield Police Department
  • Milwaukee Police Department
  • Hales Corners Police Department
  • Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office

Mutual aid was requested in order to maintain the perimeter in this case -- and to help with continued patrols in West Allis.

Officials with the West Allis Police Department tell FOX6 News a male party reportedly made threats to harm himself.

Preliminary information indicated the male party may have had access to a firearm and was believed to be inside his home.

Again -- the man has been taken into custody.
