State health officials confirm heat-related death in Iron County

MADISON -- State health and emergency management officials confirmed on Wednesday, July 27th the state’s first summer heat-related death. Officials say it occurred the first week of July in Iron County.

Agencies are encouraging residents to take high temperatures seriously, and to take steps to stay safe and healthy.

Officials say hot weather is especially dangerous for older adults, infants and young children, individuals with chronic health conditions, those who work outdoors or in hot settings, and isolated individuals who may not know how to cool off or ask for help.
