GREEN BAY -- For the first time on Thursday, July 28th, at Green Bay Packers Training Camp, the players practiced in pads -- and a special guest stopped by!

House Speaker Paul Ryan made his way up to Green Bay for camp on Thursday.

The Janesville Republican said he was working with the NFL -- shooting a "30 for 30" documentary.

Along with watching practice, Ryan spoke with the players.

"I'm used to giving a lot of speeches. I was actually pretty nervous talking to these guys. As a lifelong Packers fan, it was a pretty cool experience to meet the team," Ryan said.

Packers officials tweeted out some snapshots from camp on Thursday -- with one picture showing the team warming up as some rain rolled across the area.

First round NFL Draft pick Kenny Clark found some time to stop and sign autographs for fans.

Packers Family night is THIS Sunday, July 31st. Coverage on FOX6 begins at 6:00 p.m.

Below is a statement from Packers officials leading up to Family Night:

A fun-filled day and evening awaits Packers fans Sunday at ‘Packers Family Night, Presented by Bellin Health.’

Stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the evening will feature a family-focused and game-like atmosphere with use of the video boards and gameday music. The practice will get underway at 7:30 p.m., with 11-on-11 sessions that will include live contact, and the night will conclude with a fireworks and laser show.

The event will benefit the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids foster care adoption program, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Family Night is a part of the Back to Football campaign, presented by Bellin Health, a campaign that also includes Packers training camp and Packers preseason games.

The Packers are reminding fans of the NFL’s stadium safety policy. No bags or purses will be allowed inside Lambeau Field unless they are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and are no larger than 12” by 6” by 12”. Stadium cushions are also not allowed as a part of the policy, however, stadium seats and stadium pads that contain no pockets or zippers and are 18” wide or smaller are allowed. For more information, visit packers.com/carryin.

Family Night activities will begin at 11 a.m. in the American Family DreamZone, Lambeau Field Atrium and parking lot. The Fan Walkway area, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. along the sidewalk from Oneida Street to the Oneida Nation Gate, will feature activities for fans to enjoy, including the Kemps Mooseum, airbrush tattoos and a display of animals from the Wildlife Sanctuary.

In addition, the Pick ‘N Save Family Night Picnic, will take place from noon to 6 p.m. in Lambeau Field’s east-side parking lot.

The Packers will welcome representatives from March of Dimes as their official community guests. Forty representatives of the organization will make up the Packers Ambassador Line as the players take the field.  The representatives will attend the rest of the evening’s festivities with the remainder of the group in the stands.

Other on-field activities include a flag football game with players from the Northwest Wisconsin Champions NFL Flag League from Eau Claire, as well as a performance by the Green Bay Elite Dance Team and an appearance by the All Veteran Parachute Team before the practice begins.

Included in the evening’s activities will be the popular Chili’s “Jerseys Off Our Backs” promotion with Packers jerseys – all of which will have been worn by Packers players in the just-completed practice – to be given away in a random drawing. The evening will conclude with the Pick ‘N Save Fireworks and Laser Light show, coordinated to music.

Fans are reminded that all individuals, regardless of age, require a ticket for admittance. In case of inclement weather, no refunds will be issued unless all stadium activities – from 5:30 p.m. until the end of the fireworks show – are cancelled.

Parking lots will open at 11 a.m. for the event and the cost will be $5, with net proceeds to be donated to the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Program. Parking will be limited in Packers-operated lots, but parking is also available in neighboring areas.
