Getting muddy is mandatory in 2016 "Warrior Dash"

FRANKLIN-- Taking races to a whole new level. Hundreds of people came out to The Rock Sports Complex on Saturday, August 13 for Warrior Dash.

Warrior Dash is a race unlike any other where getting muddy is mandatory. Participants take to the 5K course that has obstacles spread through the trail. Runners faced 12 world-class obstacles, such as leaping over fire, all while running through mud-caked back roads.

Red Frog Events hosted the race, which served as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Hospital. They've pledged to raise $25 million to help cure cancer. Over the past couple of years, they've already raised $13 million.

"We are primarily funded by all our wonderful fundraisers that participate in this event. They fundraise through their local channels, their networks because they know how important our mission is to eradicating cancer," said Matt O'Shea, St. Jude's fitness specialist.

Franklin was just one stop for the Warrior Dash. The race travels from city to city throughout the year. If you're interested in signing up for any of their other races, CLICK HERE.
