MILWAUKEE -- She went for gold and got it! Kaprice Maxwell -- an income senior at Milwaukee High School of the Arts joins FOX6 WakeUp to talk about the national competition where she recently took home top honors.

Kaprice Maxwell, an incoming senior at Milwaukee High School of the Arts, won the Gold Medal in Contemporary Voice at the 38th Annual NAACP ACT-SO National Competition "The Olympics of the Mind" in Cincinnati, Ohio this Summer.

Maxwell is one of five MHSA students who qualified for the national competition by winning gold medals at the local competition in April.
Maxwell won with her performance of a transcription of Ella Fitzgerald's version of "Blue Skies" by Irving Berlin.
