Rio Olympics: Waukesha native Gwen Jorgensen wins U.S.' first triathlon gold

RIO DE JANEIRO  — Gwen Jorgensen of the U.S. has a gold medal. She won the grueling triathlon competition with a time of 1 hour, 56 minutes and 16 seconds, while the runner-up finished at 1:56.56. It's the first gold ever for the U.S. in Olympic triathlon. The only other American to win an Olympic triathlon medal was Susan Williams, who won the silver in 2004.

According to nbcolympics.com, Jorgensen is a Waukesha native, and was a member of the cross country, swimming and track & field teams at the University of Wisconsin.
