Academy Award winning screenwriter, Mequon native John Ridley joins 'Milwaukee Film' board

MILWAUKEE -- Academy Award winning screenwriter and Milwaukee-area native John Ridley has joined the board of directors for Milwaukee Film.

The organization runs the annual Milwaukee Film Festival.

Ridley, who grew up in Mequon, won an Oscar for best adapted screenplay for "12 Years A Slave" in 2014.

Ridley's parents still live in Mequon, and he says the local connection is a big part of his involvement.
