PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- People are furious after pictures of a Florida Walmart's 9/11-themed Coke display began to circulate on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

Twitter user Shawn Richard Tweeted a picture of the display, which presented Coke Zero in place of Ground Zero and spurred thousands of angry retweets about the beverage company's marketing ploy.

“We stopped and stared at it like, oh my god,” Richard said, according to BuzzFeed News. “Nobody seemed to be noticing it, it wasn’t very crowded, and I got the feeling that it had just been assembled. So we took some pics and went on our way.”

Orlando Weekly reports the display has been taken down and that Walmart initially approved the design.

In less than two days, the post has more than 2,492 retweets and 4,114 likes.

    First off all anyone who says this is in bad taste should be tried as a terrorist themselves if you think it’s offensive go back to were you came from and if I was the ceo of Walmart I would be ordering that same display in every store in the good ole USA I do not drink soda but I do praise the Coke guys for it We need more

    Some people need to face the fact that they don’t have a real life and should work toward construct themselves as normal human beings who do not see everything around them in a petty minded ignorant way. Accept the beauty in the rainbow instead of digging down deep to see how much rain has fallen to gripe about that. These types of people make me sick. A soda pop display ??

    Oh my gosh people, get a life!!! People are starving to death and being killed in our cities and you’re whining about a soda display. Unreal.

    This display is patriotic and in rememberance of the worst terrorist attack on our country, those that dont like it should feel free to move to any middle eastern country and voice their opinions there because real americans should love the country, im not pleased with our government officials either but if we lose sight of the sacrifices made in our history to give us these freedoms we will surely lose them. Stand up be a true American and see this display for what it is.

    Fox6 and every other ‘News’ station posting this to their media outlets should be ashamed of themselves!!! This isn’t news or important that some whiny, ignorant people in – of all places, Wal-Mart don’t like a coke display paying respect to the worst tourist attack on American soil. I don’t get what’s offensive about it and i definitely don’t get why News stations are giving it national attention.

    The Presidential candidate leading in most polls:
    –let an Ambassador be attacked/killed on her watch as Sec. of State and lied about it;
    –set up a private email server to avoid transparency and hide her activities as a govt official and lied about it;
    –used that private email server to send/receive classified information thereby breaking the law and lied about it;
    –used her sham Clinton Foundation to launder bribes paid in exchange for special favors like supplying Russia with uranium and lied about it;
    –sold access, information and influence and lied about it;

    …and this Walmart crap (and crap like it) is what people get “outraged” about. This country is screwed.

    I don’t see what the outrage is about…the display represents 9/11…just think we have kids who have yet to find out what happened that day and what this display stands for…cool display Coke and Wal-Mart…
