Milwaukee police: Citizens help solve northwest side strong-armed robbery

MILWAUKEE -- A northwest side neighborhood and its residents worked hand in hand with District Four officers this week to help solve a strong-armed robbery.

Officers responded to the area of 35th and Sheridan around 12:30 p.m. on September 13th where they were met by the victim, a 16-year-old girl. The victim told officers a male suspect came up to her, struck her, and stole her cell phone before he fled on foot.

A witness saw the suspect running away and pointed officers in his direction.

The suspect, a 38-year-old Milwaukee man and convicted felon, had more than a gram of cocaine on him and was quickly taken into custody near 32nd and Sheridan. Officers were also able to locate the stolen cell phone.

During the apprehension several citizens comforted the victim and helped provide valuable information to the officers.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
