MILWAUKEE -- A 19-year-old Milwaukee woman was found dead early Monday morning, September 26th in a parking lot in the 400 block of W. River Woods Parkway, off of Port Washington Road near Wheaton Franciscan in Glendale.
Police were called out to the area around 5:30 a.m. after receiving calls regarding a person lying on the ground in a parking lot.
When officials arrived on scene, they found a 19-year-old woman who'd been shot.
An investigation is now ongoing to determine a motive and search for suspect(s).
Meanwhile, neighbors have called the situation shocking and disturbing.
"It`s peaceful over here. Very peaceful," LaToya Turner, who works in the area said.
On Monday morning, in this quiet area, there was the sound of sirens and neighbors watched as police tape was put up.
"We just saw the police tape and the police cars outside with their lights on. Surprising, shocking, hurtful. Our young people. With all the things that`s going on, I`m speechless," Turner said.
A section of the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin's parking lot was blocked off by Glendale police -- the red tape indicating this was a death investigation.
"I didn`t realize I was that close to it," Elaiane Stoffergen said.
Stoffergen said the news shocked her.
"You betcha. We have enough stuff and we`re just a smaller town -- so I am shocked," Stoffergen said.
There are plenty of surveillance cameras in the area where this happened -- so police will likely be taking a look at the video to see what it may show.
"We see the same people all the time walking in the same area. Sometimes we go a little further out. Everyone's extremely friendly," Turner said.
Police say there's no immediate threat to the public at this time.
Officials at the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin said Monday they have no comment at this time.
