DMV open Saturdays for voters to obtain valid ID for November election

MILWAUKEE -- As the countdown to the presidential election continues, voters can turn to the Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) if they need help getting their first Wisconsin ID. The DMV offers Saturday hours at their busiest locations: Milwaukee Northwest, Milwaukee Southwest, Madison East, Madison Odana, La Crosse, Eau Claire, Wausau and Appleton. These DMV service centers are open Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

If you want to obtain an official photo ID card, START HERE -- documentation is required, such as a birth certificate. If all documentation is not available, the ID Petition Process can be sed to obtain a receipt valid for voting while remaining documents or verifications are obtained.

The DMV offers this service and card free of charge for voting purposes.

Most people already have a driver license or ID and, therefore, already have a form of required identification needed to vote. For customers who need a duplicate card or simply want to update their address on their records, wisconsindmv.gov offers convenient online tools. Other routine DMV-related tasks such as renewing an ID, titling a vehicle, renewing license plates, and more can be done online 24/7. During regular weekday business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) online chat or phone support are available to answer questions.

Only the website with .gov is the official state website. Others with .org and .com are not official and may have extra charges for forms or list information that is dated or incorrect. In addition to the expanding services on its website, WisDOT connects with customers on Facebook and Twitter @WisconsinDOT.
