Farmer mows marriage proposal into soybean field

CALEDONIA, NY -- It doesn't get much sweeter than this. A New York farmer decided to pop the question to his girlfriend with help from his combine and soybean field.

According to WHAM, Dan Stein and Leslie Hamilton met at none other than a John Deere dealership nearly two years ago.

When Stein was ready to propose, he got creative.

"Usually you go straight back and forth in a row. I just got really creative and artistic and wrote letters instead of going straight back and forth in the field,” Stein said.

In big bold letters Stein spelled out, "Marry me?"

Hamilton said she could see that Stein had cut something out in the field, and asked what he had done -- "because he's always a perfectionist; it's always very straight," she said.

That's when Stein showed her a picture from a drone above.

"He was like, 'I don't know if you can read that but this is what it says,' and I was like, 'Oh my God,' and he got down on one knee,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton said yes! The two plan to get married in the summer of 2018 -- perhaps on one of their farms.

"That field will always be special, I suppose," Hamilton said.
