MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police on Tuesday, November 1st identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred near 7th and Greenfield on the city’s south side on Monday morning, October 31st.  The victim is 57-year-old Leopoldo Vela.

The crime happened at Corona Jewelry — a business that has been at 7th and Greenfield for years — with never an incident.

Corona Jewelry buys gold and is a money transfer store.

Milwaukee police were called to the store Monday morning for a person shot in the chest. The preliminary investigation reveals Vela was shot during a robbery.

Police have released surveillance photos of a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting.
