MILWAUKEE — Recognizing hard work and dedication. Saturday, eight people from the Milwaukee community were honored for their tireless efforts related to fighting human trafficking and domestic violence — and advocating for social justice and economic empowerment.

The third annual “Black Out Awareness Event” was sponsored by “Fresh Start Learning,” an organization committed to transforming people’s lives for the better.

The event took place at Heartlove Place, located on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in Milwaukee.
