Balance of power: A closer look at what's at stake in Congress on election day

MILWAUKEE -- While the world will be paying extremely close attention to the top of the ticket on this Election Day, the future of this nation may lie with changes (if there are any) that occur in Congress.

At this time, Republicans hold control of both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.

In the Senate, Republicans hold a lead. But depending on how the votes go on Tuesday, November 8th, that could change. In Wisconsin, the focus is on the battle between incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson and the man he defeated for the office six years ago,  Democratic challenger Russ Feingold.

Unlike the Senate, every member of the House of Representatives must fight to keep their seat every two years. That means every candidate faces new challengers with potentially new issues. Right now, Republicans hold sizable majority in the House.

FOX6 News will be paying particular attention to this balance of power -- to see which way it swings in both the Senate and House.
