Ballot shortage impacts voters at polling locations in Town of Lisbon in Waukesha County

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- According to Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Novack, a shortage of ballots impacted up to 150 voters on election day Tuesday, November 8th in the Town of Lisbon.

Novack said she suspects the voters impacted were those with the Arrowhead School District referendum on their ballot.

Wards 4 and 5 ran out of ballots around 11:30 a.m.

400 additional ballots were ordered at noon Tuesday. They were delivered to polling sites around 2:30 p.m.

We're told the Waukesha County Clerk's Office ordered enough ballots for 130 percent of registered voters at each polling site -- so it's unclear why/how the shortage happened.

Novack said there should have been alternative voting methods made available to voters impacted by this shortage. They could fill out a ballot that was put in an auxiliary bin and remade later, or there was a touch screen express format that voters could use.

"Which also spits out a ballot, and you enter into the ballot box. So the paper copies go into the auxiliary bin and then get remade at the end of the night," Matt Janecke, town administrator said.

We're told the Waukesha County Clerk's Office received a number of calls from people not able to vote, and they were responding to them as quickly as possible.
