Toddler battling cancer 'rose from the dead' after doctors took him off life support

DERBY, England – A three-year-old boy from England made a miraculous recovery after he was taken off life support, according to The Telegraph.

Last Christmas, Dylan Askin was rushed to the hospital when his lungs collapsed. For several weeks, he was in and out of the emergency room as doctors tried to figure out what was wrong.

Finally, he was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer that caused cysts to appear on his lungs, and he began receiving chemotherapy.

In mid-February, Askin collapsed at his nursery school. After being taken to the hospital, he was kept in the intensive care unit for several weeks until he developed an infection on March 18 and his family was urged to say their final goodbyes on April 3 after his organs began to fail.

As part of the process for taking someone off life support, doctors took him off muscle sedatives and his legs began to kick, which showed his brain was still functioning. Doctors then increased the sedation and his oxygen levels improved to a normal level.

"We had told Bryce that Dylan wasn’t coming back, so when we explained that he had got better, Dylan said, ‘Oh, so he’s like Jesus then,'" Dylan's mother Kerry said. "I said, 'You’re not wrong.' He had just risen from the dead."

On April 4, he was discharged and his last chest drain was on April 20. He's still getting treatment for the cysts on his lungs, but he's now home with his parents and two brothers and expected to make a full recovery.
