Hillary Clinton’s campaign is being urged by a number of top computer scientists to call for a recount of vote totals in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, according to a source with knowledge of the request.

The computer scientists believe they have found evidence that vote totals in the three states could have been manipulated or hacked and presented their findings to top Clinton aides on a call last Thursday.

The scientists, among them J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, told the Clinton campaign they believe there is a questionable trend of Clinton performing worse in counties that relied on electronic voting machines compared to paper ballots and optical scanners, according to the source.

The group informed John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chairman, and Marc Elias, the campaign’s general counsel, that Clinton received 7% fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic voting machines, which the group said could have been hacked.

Their group told Podesta and Elias that while they had not found any evidence of hacking, the pattern needs to be looked at by an independent review.

Neither Halderman nor John Bonifaz, an attorney also pressing the case, responded to requests for comment on Tuesday evening. Their urging was first reported by New York magazine.

A message left with President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team also was not immediately returned.

There were widespread concerns about hacking ahead of this month’s election, including the Obama administration accusing Russia of attempting to breach voter registration data. But election officials and cybersecurity experts said earlier this month that it is virtually impossible for Russia to influence the election outcome.

A former Clinton aide declined to respond to questions about whether they will request an audit based on the findings.

Additionally, at least three electors have pledged to not vote for President-elect Trump and to seek a “reasonable Republican alternative for president through Electoral College,” according to a statement Wednesday from a group called the Hamilton Electors, which represents them.

“The Founding Fathers created the Electoral College as the last line of defense,” one elector, Michael Baca, said in a statement, “and I think we must do all that we can to ensure that we have a reasonable Republican candidate who shares our American values.”

Did those computer scientist not see the rallies Trump had vs the rallies Hillary had

    Trump had 20000+ people

    Hillary had 300+ people

    • Opinion8d

Please reference the ‘huge Clinton rallies’!!! or the low Trump turnout. Hillary was out less than Trump because she thought she had it in the bag. She was hoping she was disliked less than Trump and the less people would see her the better…..well it failed.

    • Gadfly

If rallies were a real indicator then by your own numbers Rump should’ve gotten 66 times Hillary’s total.
But Hillary beat him in the popular vote by 2,500,000 votes.
So…you’re wrong. Maybe those computer scientists are a lot smarter than you?

    Ha Ha!
Liberals are the most hypocritical people I have seen….. They mocked Trump when he refused to say whether he will accept election results. When Hillary lost, they went on the streets rioting. They used to say Trump will say system is rigged if he lost. Now they themselves are doing the same.

    • KInky

She lost because she should be in prison. If she does become president, she would be the first female criminal president. And the US would become North Mexico.

    • Nate Jr.

Hey Kate a little advice to you. Have someone read your post before you send it out so they can correct your atrocious grammar so you don’t appear to be such a dimwit liberal…

    • Gadfly

Rube, your guy promised to save Medicare and SS, but has surrounded himself with politicians that want to Privatize both programs.

I wonder which hypocrisy will hurt your wallet more?

  • liberty

” The real motives of Liberals have nothing to do with the welfare of other people. Instead, they have two related goals — to establish themselves as morally and intellectually superior to the rather distasteful population of common people, and to gather as much power as possible to tell those distasteful common people how they must live their lives.” – ——Thomas Sowell

  • Nate Jr.

Liberal crybaby losers consistently continue to avoid reality. Get over it beotches the no good lying wench lost the election. Now go play with your play dough or whatever it is you do when you don’t get your way and you are pouting!!

  • Gray beard

Did I read this Right. They want a “reasonable republican candidate that shares American values. Do liberals share American values, H*LL NO! They hate Capitalism unless they can use someone else’s money by taxing everything that moves. Typical ball bag Liberals, greedy, selfish, self centered, free loaders.

Interesting how these “computer scientists” arrived at the conclusion that Pennsylvania was hacked. The state of PA has stated pubicly that their voting machines are so old they cannot be connected to the internet. Wonder why these “experts” decided to include PA? Maybe because without that state Clinton can’t reach 270? Sloppy attempt at best.

    • Ullr

PA was included because its results were close and perhaps there is enough time to hack or otherwise change results in heavily Democratic precincts. If one or two states could be flipped while dirt is being uncovered on the personal lives of electors to make them compliant, the election could be overturned. Remember when Gore tried to litigate a victory by narrowing the election down to three Democratic counties in Florida leading to a sympathetic judge allowing any dent in a chad to be considered intent to remove a chad as the law required. Expect the same. If this was actually about voting machines being hacked, there would also be a demand to get rid of voting machines.

  • Realist

Are these computer scientists related to the scientists that are perpetrating the global warming hoax? Talk about mad scientists!

  • Rainer Pitthan

    Baca says:
The Founding Fathers created the Electoral College as the last line of defense,” one elector, Michael Baca, said in a statement, β€œand I think we must do all that we can to ensure that we have a reasonable Republican candidate who shares our American values.”

Looking at the vote of the American people, should he not say a reasonable Democratic candidate? Or is my training in logic leading me astray here?

  • Sally

I’m hopeful that people realize the seriousness of actual Hacking in to our voting systems… (especially if it were from a source outside of the U.S.) so IF that did happen, I would want to know about it, and a recount if necessary. There seems to be something wrong here.

    • Ullr

If you are worried that voting machines were hacked, you should be leading the charge to get rid of voting machines. If, as these articles promoting recalls always suggest, “the Russians did it”, please provide the proof before going further.

  • Nutty Professor

Rubbish. Surely I say, the liberal computer scientists on their lovely tenured life taking sabbaticals and vacations whilst their teaching assistants do the heavy lifting and after months of lamenting will have something to publish finally after all these years.
How about: the failure of the democratic electorate influenced by social media and windows 10 debut of touch screen OS. Not all have touch screen OS laptops and most that do have OS 10 hate it. therefore the conclusion: Liberals that own touch screen laptops on OS10 will use a paper ballot than a touchscreen in rebellion, thus the lower count for hillbags.

  • MKEdr

Didn’t they mean that “Disappointed Democrat computer scientists” urged recount? Surprised that they aren’t calling for safe spaces and puppies to pet in college towns. I’ve begun wearing a diaper pin in my lapel.

  • Lesley Smith

OH my goodness.. for the life of me I can’t understand people. There is voter fraud going on for sure. I can’t wait until there is a recount and it shows that Mr. Trump actually has the popular vote. I agree with Dave Babler.. – Dave Babler Β· Lutz, Florida
“To be honest with how much hacking, deception and accusations of malfeasance have happened with this whole election it would be political malpractice to not request an audit of the counts in several states, and some recounts. Be aware of this though: recounts without a full audit of every machine connected to the election from the server that gathers the data from the local precincts to the individual machines themselves is worthless.” db. If there is a recount in 3 states.. why not just have the election over again?geeeeze.. Mr. Trump president elect, who won with the electoral votes, is going to be our next president. I can’t wait until he is sworn in. I”m so sick of the fleas.. We have an electoral winner.., and it is President Trump elect..

  • Suspicious

Seems to me that if we’re honest here, then Trump fighting all recounts everywhere looks downright suspicious.
I mean he is fighting all recounts, throwing up lawsuits everywhere, getting Republican state officials to also start lawsuits. That’s the behavior of someone who knows there’s fishy business with the voting. Just sayin.
