Act of generosity makes real, immediate difference in lives of human trafficking victims

MILWAUKEE -- An act of generosity is making a real and immediate difference in the lives of Milwaukee's human trafficking victims.

"Look at that, oh my God," said Nancy Yarbrough.

Yarbrough was emotional as she received a donated minivan, Wednesday, November 23rd.

Yarbrough runs Fresh Start Learning Inc. in Milwaukee -- a non-profit doing advocacy work for human trafficking victims, domestic violence victims and the homeless.

The van was donation from Zarate's Auto Sales in Caledonia.

"I was thinking 'how can I possibly make this happen for her?'" said Cindy Zarate with Zarate's Auto Sales.

Zarate knew Yarbrough needed a van and knew her husband's business could help.

Yarbrough hits the streets every night -- searching for victims who need help or prayer. She said the van will allow her to do the work more efficiently.

"We are out there, boots on the ground, to make sure we offer those young ladies and young men that are caught up in human trafficking, prostitution and otherwise, a lending hand," said Yarbrough.

The van and labor were donated by Zarate's --  but Advanced Auto Parts, 2nd Chance Collision and Husher Car Company helped fix it up.

"Everything to try to make it as safe and dependable of a vehicle as we possibly could," said John Prahl, GM at Zarate's Auto Sales.

Zarate and Yarbrough met through a Bible study group, and say it was no coincidence.

"If I could just say 'but God' and drop the mic, that is all I would say, because that is the driving force of what is happening," said Yarbrough.

Yarbrough's non-profit, Fresh Start Learning, is seeking donations of winter clothing items for men and women. Donations can be dropped off at 4314 W. North Avenue, which is their new location.
