"Stuff the Bus:" Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin collects non-perishables, turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving

MILWAUKEE -- On Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 24th, many of us will be stuffed -- but Wednesday, November 23rd was the annual "Stuff the Bus" event.

It all kicked off around 6:00 a.m. at the Pick 'n Save store in Brookfield.

People came out and helped stuff buses with non-perishable food items and frozen turkeys.

The food will help feed those in need throughout the holiday season.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin officials said this is an important annual event.

"This is a fun day. This day is incredibly important as peiople are getting ready for Thanksgiving. There are so many families right here in our community who don't have the food they need to put on that Thanksgiving table," Lori Holly said.

Their goal is 100,000 meals this holiday season through food and monetary donations.
