"Outstanding:" 'Love Lights' holiday celebration kicks off at Luther Manor

WAUWATOSA -- Shining a light on loved ones this holiday season. The "Love Lights" holiday celebration kicked off in Wauwatosa Thursday, December 8th.

The ceremony was put on by "The Friends of Luther Manor" to benefit the Lutheran ministry.

Each year, donors contribute $5 for a single light, or $100 for a string of lights, and they are used to decorate a tall pine on the Luther Manor Campus.

The ceremony holds a very special meaning for those involved.

"To honor all of those that we remember and love, and it's just an outstanding way to light up the life and light up the people we remember," said Joan Petersen, Lutheran Manor.

The ceremony has raised nearly $50,000 for the Friends of Luther Manor since 2010.
